The Interagency Commission of International Trade has suspended a special duty on the import of PVC. This polymer uses for window and door profiles.
Since November 2021, special import duties on PVC and PE have been in force in Ukraine. These duties on plastics lobbied for the interests of the Karpatnaftokhim plant. And the investigation started again. The Commission remained in the position of the existence of the fact of causing significant damage to the national producer. But the amount of the special duty had reduced from 18% to 12%.a
After the full-scale invasion of Russia, in August, the industry again proposed to cancel the duty on the import of PVC. And in November, the Commission cancels the special duty during martial law.
"Now we have a customs duty in favour of the national producer Karpatnaftokhim. But after the start of the full-scale invasion, this enterprise stopped working. Taking into account the great demand for window products, we propose to temporarily suspend the effect of this special duty while the war continues... If the national manufacturer resumes production, the special duty will return," said the Deputy Minister of Economy – Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka.
As of November 8, the document on the cancellation of the special duty did not publish on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, OKNA.ua clarifies.
