German company has developed a grid for a glazed unit that prevents direct sunlight

The German company Okalux has developed a grid for a glazed unit that protects against direct sunlight and allows you to maximise the use of daylight. The Okasolar 3D system is specially designed for roofs. The system was presented at the BAU 2017. Okasolar 3D was used to glaze Luxembourg's Edward Steichen High School.

In the Okasolar 3D glazing unit, an aluminium grid places between the glass at an angle. Aluminium has a high degree of reflectivity. The plastic cross bars also have a reflective coating.
A lighting laboratory calculated the angle of the slats, the spacing and the cross-sections.

The grid does not need to clean because it covered with glass.
