The international non-profit organisation World Monuments Fund (WMF) will restore the glass dome of the Teacher's Building. The new project for 2024 has announced in the Foundation's press centre.
On 10 October 2022, as a result of a russian missile attack on the capital, a blast wave damaged the glass dome of the building and smashed windows and doors.
WMF and its partners have already installed a protective coating to prevent water damage. Stabilisation work is now underway. The plan is to replace more than 500 m2 of lost glass and repair damaged steel structural elements.
The team also scans the building to create a three-dimensional visualisation of the dome.
1917-1918 the Ukrainian Central Rada used the building as a parliament.
WMF's work at the Teacher's Building is partly made possible by the U.S. Embassy's American Foundation for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) and the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv.
