The European flat glass manufacturer AGC Interpane plans to invest in new technologies with a higher degree of automation, digitization, and sustainable energy production. The investment program will be launched at the company's plants in Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and France. German specialized publications released the relevant information in early July.
“We believe that now is the perfect time to invest,” says Sebastian Schmidt, CEO of AGC Interpane Group. “If we overcome the current crisis in the German construction industry, we have the opportunity to increase our market share.”
As a global business, AGC Group has only been slightly affected by the downturn in the German construction industry.
Several million euros are now being invested in modernizing and expanding the production of insulating glass units at the plant near Leipzig, Germany. Production volume is set to increase by 30%. Investments are also planned to improve the energy efficiency of production halls to reduce the need for heating and summer cooling energy.
In January and February 2025, an expansion of the insulating glass production lines is planned. In France, AGC Interpane recently modernized the entire cutting section and is currently installing a state-of-the-art insulating glass production facility.
The Austrian plant is modernizing and automating its insulating glass production.
At the plant in Slovakia, the production of insulating glass and laminated safety glass (LSG) is being expanded.
AGC Interpane is also investing in renewable energy production at its manufacturing sites. The plant in Osterweddingen already successfully uses renewable energy to reduce natural gas consumption and CO2 emissions.
A photovoltaic system with a capacity of 2.58 MW was recently commissioned at the site in Bavaria. Two more systems are planned.
