The hardware brand Gretsch-Unitas has developed and offers a market system for external installation for mounting windows flush with external insulation. It consists of a frame profile, GU-1 K mounting adhesive, GU Stem Anchor, and GU BE4 fastening screw. It is intended for window installation without thermal bridges during new construction and energy-efficient renovation.
The external profile is 1180 mm in length, 90 mm in height, and protrudes between 80 and 200 mm. On the construction site, it is cut to size and mounted as a frame. The system is designed for heavy windows or balcony doors. According to the company, the GU frame is tested for load transfer up to 579 kg and tested for burglary resistance up to RC2 (according to DIN EN 1627).
The frame can be used for buildings made from various materials — from silicate bricks, concrete, and wood to two-layer clinker bricks. The frame profile is tested and approved for low-energy and passive houses.
