The international glass manufacturer AGC has received CE marking for its vacuum glass FINEO. As emphasized by the company's press center, it is the first and currently the only vacuum insulated glass in the world with CE certification.
CE marking became mandatory for construction products under the European Construction Products Regulation (CPR) 305/2011. It confirms that a product complies with the European 's standards for safety, health, and environmental protection, making it eligible for sale within EU countries.
Since FINEO vacuum glass is an innovative product, no EN standard applies to it. Thus, in 2018, AGC began the EOTA process. EOTA is a European organization that assists in certifying construction materials lacking standard testing rules, as noted by OKNA.ua.
On November 20, 2024, the European Assessment Document (EAD 300021-00-0404) for vacuum insulated glass was published. Testing of FINEO was conducted by the Belgian Construction Certification Association (UBAtc), confirming its durability, load resistance, thermal and sound insulation properties, and fire safety.
According to AGC, FINEO vacuum glass offers energy efficiency comparable to triple glazing but is lighter and provides better acoustic performance. It is suitable for use in both new buildings and as a replacement glass in existing windows without the need to dismantle frames.
The FINEO brand was first introduced at the international exhibition glasstec 2018. Production has been launched in Europe at the Lodelinsart plant in Belgium.
The company has already established partnerships with several profile system manufacturers, including Deceuninck, REHAU, and Schüco.
