MACO unveils wireless sensors to transform windows and doors into ‘smart’ elements

The Austrian company MACO has released new wireless Sense sensors that connect windows and doors to smart home systems using the Matter standard, according to the company’s press office.

Manufacturers can quickly install Sense sensors during the window and door production process together with the fittings. The sensors remain invisible when closed and barely noticeable when open.

Sense is powered by standard batteries, reducing operational costs. Other than occasional battery replacement, no maintenance is required. Four versions are available: for inward- or outward-opening windows, for entrance doors, and for lift-and-slide systems.

MACO’s Sense supports the universal Matter standard for smart home systems, allowing devices from various brands to work together. This enables users to configure systems without manufacturer restrictions. For example, using status data such as "open" or "closed", the system can automatically activate alarms or adjust heating.
