AGC Glass Europe continues to promote its vacuum glazing as a mass-market product. The company reported that FINEO in the low-carbon configuration has obtained an EPD environmental certificate. The official environmental declaration contains independently verified data on the product’s impact on the environment throughout its life cycle. Products with an EPD certificate are easier to integrate into major projects that require compliance with international sustainable building standards (LEED, BREEAM, DGNB).
The FINEO 8 mm Low-Carbon configuration is manufactured using PLANIBEL Low-Carbon glass produced with high-efficiency furnaces, renewable electricity, low-carbon soda and a higher proportion of recycled glass. Thanks to this approach, the product has a low GWP (Global Warming Potential) of only 18.9 kg CO₂-eq./m². This is considerably lower than many traditional double and triple glazed units. For comparison, a standard AGC triple glazing 4-14-4-14-4 has a life-cycle GWP of 65.9 kg CO₂-eq./m².
FINEO consists of two panes of glass with a vacuum cavity only 0.1 mm thick and a low-emissivity coating. The construction remains transparent, and special micro-spacers prevent deformation. The service life of FINEO reaches 60 years, the product is fully recyclable and comes with a 20-year guarantee. FINEO also remains the only vacuum glass on the market with CE marking.
The company manufactures FINEO in Belgium and is already investing in a second production line, expected to start operations in 2026.
