AGC Glass Europe has announced the launch of a new production line for Fineo vacuum insulating glass units at its plant in Lodelinsart (Belgium). The new line has four times the capacity of the pilot line the company launched in 2019.
Thanks to the expansion, glass delivery times have been reduced from four to two weeks.
Fineo is an ultra-thin vacuum insulating glass unit with CE marking. In terms of energy efficiency, Fineo is comparable to a triple-pane IGU, but with significantly lower thickness and weight. According to the manufacturer, an IGU of the same size is 4–5 times thinner and approximately three times lighter than a conventional triple-pane unit.
Clément Lemoine, Head of Product and Marketing for Fineo, emphasised the importance of European manufacturing: “We operate very close to our key customers.” According to him, this initiative required significant capital investment. “This underlines our ongoing commitment to meeting growing customer demand. With the new line, Fineo is now available to all,” he added.
AGC is also reducing the environmental footprint of its production. The company is increasing the share of recycled glass, electrifying processes and using more renewable energy.
Other manufacturers also offer vacuum insulating glass units. Earlier, VELUX also entered this market.
