Damage to the facades of private houses often becomes noticeable after the first season of rain and frost.

In spring, homeowners most commonly discover small cracks, peeling plaster, damp patches, and damage around window reveals, plinths, window sills, and drainage systems. These areas are the most exposed to moisture and temperature fluctuations.

Dim Remontu, a company specialising in facade insulation and renovation works in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, points out that the problem is not always limited to the decorative finish alone. Dark stains, cracks, or a hollow sound when tapping the surface may indicate moisture beneath the finish, a weak substrate, damage to the reinforcing layer, or mistakes made during previous repair works.

Experts particularly recommend paying attention to facade insulation junctions, including areas around window reveals, roof connections, pipe penetrations, and rainwater drainage systems. According to specialists, defects in these areas are often the reason why facade deterioration appears after the very first winter season.

Dim Remontu emphasises that the quality of a facade insulation system depends not only on the thickness of the insulation material. The density of the insulation, fixing methods, the quality of adhesive compounds, proper reinforcement, and the protection of junctions all remain critical factors.

The company’s specialists also note that spring and early summer are the optimal periods for inspecting facades and carrying out exterior repair works, as timely устранення defects helps prevent further moisture penetration and deterioration of facade finishes.
