Roto Window and Door Technology has announced new thresholds for its Inowa and Inowa | Max sliding hardware systems. The company has added the Comfort and Flex thresholds to the range. Manufacturers can install both thresholds in timber and timber-aluminium constructions. The hardware, threshold and sealing system are designed to work as one integrated system.
The Comfort threshold complies with the requirements of DIN 18040 for barrier-free accessibility. Manufacturers recess the threshold into the floor on both sides, creating an almost level transition. It can be crossed easily by wheelchair users, as confirmed by Class 5 of the ift guideline BA-01/1. A thermal break compliant with DIN 4108 and a continuous sealing contour provide energy efficiency and weather protection. This makes the Comfort threshold suitable for public buildings and residential properties where accessibility and comfort are essential. The Comfort threshold is already available for inward-opening sashes in both the Inowa and Inowa | Max hardware systems.
The Flex threshold also incorporates a thermal break. Manufacturers use it with outward-opening sashes in the Inowa and Inowa | Max systems, both in new-build projects and refurbishment applications. The threshold can either be recessed into the floor on one side or installed entirely on the floor surface. Together with the roller guide, it accommodates a height difference of up to 22 mm. When recessed into the floor, the internal installation height starts from 4 mm. The Flex threshold will be available at the end of 2026.
Both thresholds are compatible with a wide range of profile systems. Roto engineers have designed the hardware kits so that manufacturers can use many common components. Straight profile cuts, practical snap-fit and clip connections, fewer screws and less liquid sealant all help to speed up installation and reduce maintenance requirements. The thresholds are also compatible with components from the Roto NX tilt-and-turn hardware system.
