Roto Frank has launched the new Roto AL Designo | STS 180° concealed hinge for aluminium windows on the European market. Roto Frank Fenster- und Türtechnologie GmbH announced the launch in its own press release.

Side-hung and tilt-and-turn windows with inward-opening sashes traditionally dominate the European market. In other international markets, different opening types are more commonly chosen, including outward opening and vertical sliding. Roto is expanding its hardware range for aluminium windows to meet demand in different markets. The new Roto AL Designo | STS 180° concealed hinge supports sash weights of up to 80 kg and is part of the Roto AL Designo product range.

The hinge allows the sash to open fully to an angle of up to 180°. Optimised kinematics also make the hinge suitable for flush profiles. Manufacturers can use this hinge in modern façade concepts as well as in premium residential and commercial construction. The new hinge is suitable for side-hung and tilt-and-turn windows.

Roto has certified the Roto AL Designo | STS 180° hinge to Cradle to Cradle Certified® Full Scope Bronze, version 4.1. This provides aluminium window manufacturers with verified product information for tenders, building certifications and sustainability assessments.

The hinge is fully compatible with components of the modular Roto AL hardware system, including all opening restrictors.

The company manufactures all stamped hinge components from stainless steel. They meet corrosion resistance class 5 in accordance with DIN EN 1670. The Roto AL Designo | STS 180° hinge is therefore also suitable for projects exposed to more demanding climatic conditions. The company tested the hinge, including in accordance with DIN EN 13126-8, and it achieved durability class H3 (20,000 cycles).

Matthias Nagat, Head of Sales and Product Management for Aluvision, explained the company’s stringent requirements when testing the new hinge: “According to the standard, 180° hardware only needs to be tested up to an opening angle of 90°. Roto deliberately decided to go beyond these specifications and tested the components at an opening angle of 180°.”

Previously, German company Winkhaus expanded its sliding systems range with the concealed primePort AS hardware, which withstands demanding weather conditions.
