Italian company Giesse has added the Champion Plus 90 Minimal version to the Champion Plus family for aluminium sliding windows and doors with profiles cut at 90 degrees. According to Giesse, the new version is designed for a gap between the sash and frame ranging from 3.5 to 7.3 mm.
Champion Plus comprises multipoint locking mechanisms for sliding sashes. Depending on the version, the system has between one and three locking points.
For the standard Champion Plus, Giesse selects a dedicated fixing kit for each specific sliding profile system. These kits adapt the locking rod to the profile geometry.
Champion Plus 90 and Champion Plus 90 Minimal are designed for profiles with 90-degree cuts. With Champion Plus 90, the installer fixes the hardware directly to the profile without adapters. Giesse provides an installation template for positioning the components.
The main difference between Champion Plus 90 Minimal and the other versions in the family is the smaller overall size of the locking rod. This allows the mechanism to be installed where the distance between the sash and frame is between 3.5 and 7.3 mm. Giesse therefore retains the Champion Plus multipoint locking principle while extending its use to profiles with more restricted installation space.
Champion Plus 90 Minimal is available in two versions — with fixed or adjustable keepers. In the latter version, the installer can adjust the position of the keepers within a range of +5/−3 mm. This allows the hardware to be adapted more precisely to the geometry of the construction.
According to Giesse, tests of the Champion Plus family demonstrated pull-out resistance of up to 200 kg at each locking point. Both Champion Plus 90 Minimal versions achieve corrosion resistance class 5 in accordance with EN 1670.
For Champion Plus 90 Minimal, the company also offers an additional mechanism for a lock with a European-profile cylinder. It is compatible with locking rods measuring 600, 1,000 and 1,200 mm in length.
