Greek company ALUMIL has introduced SMARTIA MD61, a new thermally insulated aluminium entrance door system. The manufacturer announced the expansion of its product range on its official website.
SMARTIA MD61 has a frame and door leaf profile depth of 61 mm. The system allows glazed entrance doors to be manufactured in various configurations. The profiles have flat external surfaces, with the frame and door leaf forming a flush plane.
The system accommodates infill panels or glazing units with thicknesses ranging from 11 to 44 mm. The maximum door leaf weight is 180 kg. ALUMIL uses EPDM gaskets for sealing. The manufacturer also offers a choice of different locks and hinges.
A key feature of SMARTIA MD61 is its low threshold, measuring just 10 mm in height. This design makes it easier to pass through the doorway and reduces barriers for people with reduced mobility.
According to ALUMIL, the profile thermal transmittance (Uf) starts at 2.4 W/(m²·K). The lower the U-value, the better the door retains heat. However, Uf describes the thermal performance of the profile system rather than the complete door assembly. The thermal insulation performance of the door can be improved through the choice of door infill.
ALUMIL's product range also includes the SMARTIA MD67 and SMARTIA MD9660 entrance door systems. The former has a profile depth of 67 mm, supports door leaves weighing up to 220 kg and accommodates infill thicknesses of up to 49 mm. SMARTIA MD9660 has a frame profile depth of 56 mm, supports door leaves weighing up to 180 kg and accommodates infill thicknesses of up to 51.5 mm. The new MD61 features a 10 mm threshold, compared with 16 mm for the MD67 and 15 mm for the MD9660. However, it has a lower maximum infill thickness than both systems and a lower permissible door leaf weight than the MD67.
As previously reported, German company REHAU Window Solutions has also expanded its entrance door range. The manufacturer is introducing ARTEVO doors to the German market, based on glass-fibre-reinforced RAU-FIPRO X polymer profiles.
