On June 29, the European Council adopted a resolution to expand the scope of sanctions against belarus to prevent the circumvention of sanctions imposed on russia. Sheet glass has been included in the list of sanctioned goods.

After russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the import of russian float glass was banned as part of the first wave of economic sanctions.
