According to AGC Glass Europe, the Czech division of the company, AGC Flat Glass Czech, collected 199 tonnes of end-of-life glass during the first year of operation of the Recycle Glass service in the Czech Republic.

AGC established the Recycle Glass service to collect flat glass waste. This includes, in particular, offcuts from industrial cutting and glass from demolition sites. The collected material is processed into cullet and used in the production of new glass.

In 2025, the collected 199 tonnes of glass were sent for remelting at AGC’s plant in Řetenice. This made it possible to save more than 83 tonnes of CO₂ emissions and 143 tonnes of primary raw materials. For comparison, the use of recycled glass reduces CO₂ emissions by 0.7 tonnes per tonne of cullet and avoids the extraction of 1.2 tonnes of natural resources.

Three local company divisions were involved in the collection and preparation of the glass: AGC Processing Teplice, AGC Fenestra Salaš and AGC Fenestra Stod.

The service is offered to existing customers under a formal contract. For large demolition projects, the company provides temporary containers for glass collection. After collection, the material is processed through a network of specialised partners. This ensures the quality of cullet suitable for the production of new glass. AGC issues each partner with an official certificate confirming CO₂ and primary raw material savings.

AGC Glass Europe has long practised recycling cullet from its own production facilities. The aim is to maximise the return of glass waste into the production cycle instead of sending it to landfill or downcycling it into lower-quality materials.

Incidentally, the topic of technologies for working with glass is actively developing. Recently, the LiSEC IGD-A system for easy cutting of insulating glass units (IGUs) received recognition from the German industry.
