WEINIG has announced that it will cease production at its plant in Malterdingen, Germany, by the end of 2026. Manufacturing capacities will be transferred to other German facilities within the Group.

At the same time, the sales, service and engineering design departments in Malterdingen will be retained. The company’s product portfolio will also remain unchanged, allowing customers to continue relying on the same quality and reliability.

At its Malterdingen plant, WEINIG manufactures equipment for solid wood processing, including moulders, planing machines and cutting systems.

The changes form part of an agreement between WEINIG management, the IG Metall trade and the works council. The parties have signed a so-called “future agreement” (Zukunftstarifvertrag), a collective bargaining agreement aimed at safeguarding the long-term future of the Group’s remaining German facilities.

The agreement guarantees that there will be no redundancies for operational reasons. It also provides for employee participation in the distribution of the company’s economic profits.

Harald Gans, First Authorised Representative of IG Metall Tauberbischofsheim, commented on the signing: “This agreement has one primary objective: to secure the long-term future of WEINIG’s facilities and strengthen their competitiveness. When employers and trade s work together constructively, it benefits the entire workforce and the company as a whole.”

As part of its Transformation 2027 programme, WEINIG has invested €120 million over the past four years in modernising production facilities, logistics and the development of its product portfolio.

The WEINIG Group employs around 2,420 people worldwide, including approximately 1,600 in Germany. The company is a global leader in the solid wood processing sector. The Group’s manufacturing and assembly facilities are located in Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, the United States and China.
