The Ivano-Frankivsk project “Promprylad.Renovation” became a winner of the international New European Bauhaus Prizes, as announced by the organisers on the official website of the European Commission initiative.
Promprylad.Renovation is a project that transforms an old factory into a modern space for business, education, culture, and urban development. It combines four areas — new economy, urbanism, contemporary art, and education. On the site of the former industrial complex, an environment has been created where entrepreneurs, artists, educators, and the local community interact.
Among the project’s main achievements are the energy-efficient reconstruction of buildings using reclaimed materials, the creation of jobs, and the development of educational programmes for entrepreneurs and internally displaced people. The designers preserved the spirit of the past by restoring authentic elements such as exposed brick, steel beams, and factory-style panoramic windows. These features were harmoniously combined with modern architecture, sustainable materials, and open-plan spaces. For the façades, recycled bricks were used, while energy efficiency was enhanced with heat recovery ventilation systems and double-glazed units with energy-saving coating and argon filling.
The project is also one of the first in Ukraine to undergo certification under the LEED standard.
The Promprylad.Renovation team emphasises that their main goal is to create a model that other communities can replicate to revitalise abandoned industrial areas and make them useful for urban life.
Earlier, OKNA.ua reported that Ivano-Frankivsk’s Promprylad reached the final of the New European Bauhaus award.
