German company Knelsen GmbH has introduced the SFK anchor, a fixing system for windows and doors that allows the frame position to be adjusted even after installation has been completed.
The SFK anchor is fixed to the frame in the reveal. The frame position is adjusted through an opening in the frame using a threaded rod integrated into the plate.
This design makes it possible to correct the position of a window even years after installation, for example if the wall has settled or become deformed. Most conventional plug fixing systems hold the frame rigidly in place, making realignment without dismantling difficult or impossible.
The anchor is suitable for windows and doors made from three materials: aluminium, timber and PVC profiles.
The maximum load capacity was tested by the ift Rosenheim institute. The system has also been certified to RC2 burglary resistance class with a plate thickness of 2.5 mm or greater (PIV test report No. 45-6/21).
However, there is a technical limitation. The load-bearing capacity of the anchor decreases as the projection increases — that is, the distance by which the fixing protrudes. For example, with a plate thickness of 1.5 mm and a projection of 70 mm, the maximum load is 44 kg. Heavy constructions or wide reveals may require additional brackets from the same Knelsen product range.

A British company had previously proposed a way to simplify installers’ work as well: profine UK developed a device designed to make installation work easier.
