How to check window and installation quality — basic ways to assess mounting verticality, hardware operation and frame geometry using a level and a tape measure.

The video shows simple checks for a metal-plastic window after installation, some of which can be done even without tools.

What the video shows

• verticality: open the sash to the turn position and leave it at an angle — if it does not drift left or right on its own, the mounting is vertical;


• hardware: the handle should turn smoothly, without excessive force, and lock firmly in each position;


• in the turn position the sash should not rub the frame, and in the tilt position it should fall to tilt under its own weight;


• sagging of large sashes may indicate installation errors or incorrect packing (shimming) of the glass unit;


• frame geometry: measure both diagonals — the difference should be minimal (the video gives 3–5 mm as a reference);


• a water level is used to check verticality.
