Energy-saving REHAU windows — how to choose the profile and glass unit for a private house to cut heat loss and heating bills.


The video explains where a house loses heat and how the three levels of energy-efficient windows differ.


What the video shows



  • Household heat loss: floors and basement — 3–9%, roof — 11–18%, ventilation — 10–15%, walls — 18–25%, windows with gaps — 25–47%;

  • A window's efficiency is defined by its thermal resistance — it should be at least 0.75 m²·K/W;

  • Standard: 5-chamber 70 mm profile (REHAU Euro-Design 70), reinforcement from 1.5 mm, double-chamber 40 mm IGU with argon and low-E glass — about 2.5x warmer than an old wooden window;

  • Premium: 6–7-chamber 80 mm profile (REHAU Synego), IGU up to 44 mm, two low-E panes — about 3x warmer;

  • For passive houses: an 86 mm profile (REHAU Geneo), often without steel reinforcement, IGU up to 52 mm with krypton — about 5x warmer.


The video stresses that the result depends on correct installation with vapour and water barriers, and that energy-efficient windows also help keep interiors cool in summer.
