In 2023, the market for translucent metal-plastic structures in Ukraine will reach approximately 4 million units. This forecast was made by Oleh Kessler, head of the Vikonnyi Konsaltynh project, during the TeamWIN business conference Window and Glass Days in Ukraine 2023.
While in 2021, Mr Kessler estimated the Ukrainian glazing market at 5.2 million units, after the start of the full-scale invasion, it fell to 3.1 million units.
2023 showed significant growth. Thus, in August-October 2023, 400-420 thousand structures were sold every month. This made it possible to predict that the Ukrainian market of plastic windows and doors will reach approximately 4 million units by the end of this year (including exports).
However, a survey of window shop owners by Vikonnyi Konsaltynh showed an increase in demand for economy segment windows. 36.1% of respondents noted that demand for economy-class windows increased significantly in 2023 compared to 2022.
The survey showed that 33% of customers are determined to save money. And accordingly, dealers note that 40% of customers were lost because of the price.
As Mr Kessler commented, the demand for economy windows reflects the population's economic situation. People either do not have money or hold on to it, believing they may have more urgent expenses.
However, designs in the economy segment do not meet the requirements of the DBN for energy saving. Such windows cannot be installed in heated rooms. However, according to the survey, only 30% of dealers offer windows that comply with DBN and DSTU, while 70%, with varying shares of sales, violate the current requirements.
