British Gypsum introduces plasterboard made from 100% recycled material

British Gypsum, part of Saint-Gobain, has announced the launch of plasterboard made entirely from recycled materials. Gyproc SoundBloc Infinaé 100 is the company’s first product that contains no virgin gypsum.

Its production relies on gypsum waste from construction sites. The collected material is processed and reintroduced into manufacturing. This approach helps reduce waste, conserve natural resources, and support the circular economy in the construction sector. However, collecting recycled materials requires collaboration between different industry players.

Additionally, British Gypsum offers a collection and recycling service not only for plasterboard but also for related materials, such as plasterboard adhesive and filler. The company also partners with suppliers involved in reusing construction pallets.

Saint-Gobain aims to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, and this project is part of its global environmental responsibility strategy.

Previously, we reported that Ukraine has already enacted a law on preparing construction waste for reuse. This opens up additional opportunities for domestic companies to implement similar approaches.
