The Ukrainian Manufacturers of Transparent Structures (UMTS) has announced the opening of the WindowED Academy training and practical centre in Kyiv on 15 April 2026. The centre was established on the basis of the Kyiv Professional College of Civil Construction in cooperation with the college and with state support.
The state financed 70% of the project cost, while the remaining 30% was provided by the Association and its partners. Work on the pilot project began in 2024.
The centre will train specialists in two areas: installer of window and door structures and technician for the installation of ventilated curtain wall façades and transparent structures. The training will follow a dual education model — students will combine classroom learning with practical training at companies.
The Kyiv Professional College of Civil Construction has allocated 28 state-funded places for 2026.
For practical training and subsequent employment, a pool of Kyiv-based companies — members of UMTS — has been formed. It includes MaxiBud Engineering, Vikna-Star, Euroviknobud, Glasso, Glimar and Kompas-Group.
Mykhailo Orlenko, Executive Director of UMTS, noted: “For our Association and the entire transparent structures sector, this is an extremely important event. The opening of such a centre is a real and practical step towards training qualified specialists, introducing modern technologies into vocational education, and strengthening cooperation between education, business and employers.”
The training and practical centre will become part of the national WindowED Academy project. UMTS plans to create a network of such centres in key regions of Ukraine to develop vocational education in the window industry.
The next installer training centre is planned to open in Dnipro. A design project has already been prepared there, and renovation works are underway. The opening is scheduled for late summer 2026.
