On 15 April 2026, the Association “Ukrainian Manufacturers of Transparent Structures” (UMTS), together with the Kyiv Professional College of Civil Engineering, officially opened a training and practical centre (TPC) for the preparation of installers of transparent structures.
The project was launched in 2024. Over two years of preparing the centre, the industry simultaneously received two new occupational standards — window and door installer and façade installer. Prior to this, neither of these professions officially existed in the national classification.
UMTS Director Mykhailo Orlenko noted at the opening that before the launch of the TPC, none of the more than 300 colleges in Ukraine trained specialists for this sector. Currently, two institutions have announced student enrolment — Kyiv Professional College of Civil Engineering and Chernivtsi College of Construction.
Iryna Shumik, Director General of the Directorate of Vocational Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, emphasised that the main goal of the centre is not only the modernisation of equipment, but also the creation of a “live” educational environment in close cooperation with business.
Olena Shuliak, Member of Parliament of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and Chair of the Committee on the Organisation of State Power and Local Self-Government, stated that the opening of the training centre is a response to the critical need of business for qualified personnel and an investment in human capital for the reconstruction of Ukraine according to modern standards:
“This is the first very important step to motivate our youth… and to provide businesses with qualified personnel.”
The next stage in developing vocational education for the transparent structures sector will be the opening of a second installer training centre — WindowED Academy is planned to be launched in Dnipro.
