Bonded glazing (glued glass unit) in the sash — Olis demo, KyivBuild 2017

Bonded glazing is a technology in which the insulating glass unit is fixed directly into the window sash, giving the sash rigidity even without steel reinforcement.

At KyivBuild 2017 the company Olis demonstrated the technology by swinging on a sash to show that it keeps its geometry and that the hardware still works.

What the video shows

• the sash has no steel reinforcement — rigidity is provided by the bonded glass unit;


• thanks to the bonding, the sash opens and closes without sagging or binding;


• sashes of about 1300×1500 mm are shown, as well as large sashes up to 2.45×1.5 m across the full width of a loggia;


• if needed, a damaged glass unit can be cut out and replaced.

The material illustrates the bonded-glazing technology for large sashes without reinforcement.
