The installation of automated door-opening systems in shelters has begun in the capital. The code systems will first have tested in the Darnytskyi district and then extended to the entire city.
On 8 June 2023, the Kyiv City Council allocated an additional UAH 750 million for the repair and refurbishment of shelters. The part of funds will have used to install automated access systems. Basements that can be used as shelters will also be retrofitted.
In total, it is planned to equip about 3,000 shelters with multi-subscriber call panels. The first facilities are equipped with Akuvox R20K intercoms, which are certified for outdoor use. The operating temperature range is from -30 ℃ to +65 ℃.
The shelters will have opened immediately after the air alarm.
Earlier, Kyiv Regional Military Administration announced that it would co-finance the work that could not be done within the framework of the VidnovyDIM programme.
