Pilkington Nederland has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental standards by once again achieving Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver during its recertification process. The certification covers a wide range of glass products.
Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver aligns with NSG Group’s environmental strategy, particularly its makechange™ initiative, which aims to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainable development. The C2C certification goes beyond European regulatory requirements and evaluates companies based on five criteria: material safety, circularity, clean air and climate protection, responsible water and land stewardship, and social responsibility.
The next challenge will be meeting the stricter requirements of Cradle to Cradle Version 4.1, set to take effect next year. Pilkington Nederland’s Sustainability Coordinator, Gerrit Maring, emphasises that the new standard will require deeper production changes and active engagement with supply chain partners. To support this, the company launched the Ecovadis programme in 2021 to analyse and enhance its environmental impact.
