Schüco International KG and TSR Group GmbH & Co. KG have joined forces to ensure the reuse of aluminium in construction. The partnership aims to reduce reliance on primary resources and stabilise raw material supply.
TSR Group is one of Europe’s leading scrap recycling companies, specialising in processing aluminium into high-quality secondary raw materials. For Schüco, aluminium recycling is a key part of its environmental strategy. Recycling this metal saves up to 95% of energy compared to producing primary aluminium and reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 85%.
By using secondary raw materials in the production of new window profiles, dependence on global supply chains is reduced. It is crucial to reintegrate materials from dismantled structures and production waste into circulation to keep them within the reuse cycle.
As part of the collaboration, collection schemes are being developed for old windows after dismantling and profile offcuts, which TSR Group will process into high-quality raw materials. These materials will be reused in the production of Schüco profiles.
Since 2022, REMONDIS, a shareholder of TSR Group, and Schüco have been cooperating in the recycling of PVC profiles. Now, Schüco and TSR Group are also focusing on returning aluminium materials to production.
Another aluminium recycling project is also in operation. ALUMIL has joined the RecAL initiative, which aims to develop recycling technologies and digital solutions to support the circular aluminium economy.
