ift Rosenheim starts cooperation with Greek university for fire resistance testing of constructions

ift Rosenheim has entered into a partnership with the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Patras (Greece) in the field of fire resistance testing of building elements, according to the ift press office.

The cooperation allows the use of the “FireUP” testing centre at the University of Patras for both preliminary and official tests by ift Rosenheim.

The FireUP centre was established in 2015 for educational and research purposes. After the university approached ift Rosenheim with a request to calibrate the furnaces and test equipment, the idea arose to jointly use the laboratory for clients from Greece and neighbouring countries.

According to ift Rosenheim, official tests for CE marking under Article 46 of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) will now be carried out in Patras, conducted by experts from ift Rosenheim Hellas. This approach saves time.

In addition, prior to the main test, the FireUP team performs preliminary testing to ensure the samples meet the required standards. This helps to avoid repeat tests and certification delays.

ift Rosenheim also regularly calibrates the equipment at FireUP, ensuring the accuracy and reproducibility of results.

Official tests in Patras will begin in July 2025. Applications are already being accepted through the ift Rosenheim Hellas office.
