Pilkington United Kingdom Limited has announced that the Pilkington brand will celebrate 200 years since the company was founded in 2026 in the British town of St Helens.
The company’s history began in 1826, when six founders purchased land and established the St Helens Crown Glass Company to manufacture glass.
In 1829, the business was renamed Greenall & Pilkington, in 1849 it became Pilkington Brothers, and from 1894 it operated as Pilkington Ltd.
In 1959, Sir Alastair Pilkington created the Float Process, which is still used by the global flat glass industry today.
In 2006, the company was acquired by NSG Group and subsequently registered under the name Pilkington United Kingdom Limited.
Pilkington United Kingdom Limited is part of NSG Group and manufactures architectural and automotive glass in St Helens, where the company has been operating since the 19th century.
