Şişecam successfully commissions new coated glass line in Italy

Şişecam has announced the launch of a new coated glass line at its plant in San Giorgio di Nogaro in northern Italy. The company invested €25 million in the project.

The new line will increase capacity in Italy from 6 to 12.5 million sq m per year. The company aims to better meet demand for high-quality glass in Europe and to expand the share of coated products in its portfolio.

Şişecam announced the investment in 2024. The company implemented the project to meet growing demand for coated glass in the flat glass segment.

Şişecam CEO Can Yücel noted that the launch of the line expands production capabilities and the product range. He also emphasised that demand for coated glass is rising rapidly, particularly due to the need for energy-efficient materials. The company is developing this segment in both Eastern and Western Europe and is strengthening its market presence.

Earlier, Şişecam announced the completion of a new coating line in Bulgaria with a capacity of 6 million sq m per year. Following the launch of the line in Italy, the company is preparing to commission another line in Turkey with a capacity of 7 million sq m per year.

After the implementation of these projects, the number of coated glass lines worldwide will increase to seven. Total capacity will reach 48.1 million sq m per year.

As previously reported, the OKNA.ua platform earlier announced that Saint-Gobain Glass is launching solar control glass for complex façades.
