profine GmbH has updated the Kömmerling 76 MD system (a centre-seal system), according to the company's website. The company presented the updated system at FENSTERBAU FRONTALE 2026.
The main technical change concerns the sash. The manufacturer has introduced a new sash with a specially developed glazing bead, enabling the installation of insulating glass units (IGUs) up to 56 mm thick.
The maximum IGU thickness for this system has increased gradually. In 2014, the original configuration supported IGUs up to 48 mm thick. Subsequent versions raised the limit to 50 mm. The system now accommodates IGUs up to 56 mm thick.
The ability to install IGUs up to 56 mm thick enables fabricators to combine energy efficiency with occupant comfort, even in demanding construction projects, without increasing the profile installation depth.
The profile installation depth remains 76 mm. According to the manufacturer, this is an advantage for both renovation projects and commercial construction.
The company also states that the update improves the efficiency of storage, transportation and installation. Fewer component variants simplify warehouse management and reduce logistical complexity. Production also saves material thanks to the shallower installation depth, without compromising stability or quality compared with larger profile systems.
Also at FENSTERBAU FRONTALE 2026, Rehau Window Solutions presented a long glass fibre reinforcement technology as an alternative to steel.
