German profile system manufacturer Kömmerling presented a range of systems from its European window and door portfolio at GlassBuild America 2026 in the US. The trade show took place from 23 to 25 September in Las Vegas. Kömmerling USA reported on the exhibition display.
At its stand, the company showcased windows and doors based on Kömmerling 76 MD, the Kömmerling 88 system for energy-efficient construction, the US-market C70 and Kömmerling 76 Casement systems, as well as PremiSlide76 Beyond sliding systems and PremiDoor 76 lift-and-slide systems. The display also featured the AluClip Plus aluminium cover, the PremiStep20 low threshold and an accessible threshold designed to meet the requirements of the relevant US ADA legislation.
For the US market, Kömmerling is also adapting opening types commonly used in North America. These included C70 outward-opening top-hung windows and Kömmerling 76 Casement side-hung outward-opening windows. For the latter system, the manufacturer expects test results in the fourth quarter of 2026.
In the sliding systems segment, the company showcased PremiSlide76 Beyond and PremiDoor 76. Performance testing for PremiSlide76 Beyond is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026, while thermal transmittance testing is expected in the first quarter of 2027.
Kömmerling USA says the company is already manufacturing German-developed tilt-and-turn systems in the US. According to the company, local production is intended to shorten delivery times and simplify compliance with US regulatory documentation. Kömmerling USA estimates that importing such products previously could take between 12 and 20 weeks due to sea freight and customs procedures.
The presence of related European platforms in the US product range may simplify the initial stage of market entry for European manufacturers planning to offer Kömmerling windows in the US. US architects, developers and manufacturers can become familiar with the systems and their design principles directly in the local market. At the same time, exporting finished windows and doors will still require confirmation of compliance with US standards and the requirements of the specific project.
