After the scandal, Knauf is planning to withdraw from russia

The German construction materials company Knauf announced its withdrawal from russia after an investigation by German television. The German public broadcaster ARD reported that the company supplied building materials for projects in the occupied city of Mariupol.

According to ARD's report, materials with logos of Knauf and WKB Systems appeared in construction in Mariupol. The investigation also noted that a construction firm working under contract with the russian Ministry of Defense publicly advertised the use of Knauf materials in a residential project in the city.

In light of this, Knauf plans to hand over its business to local management and exit the russian market. The company's official russian website is already inaccessible.

According to Novaya Gazeta Europe, after Knauf's announcement of its withdrawal from russia, the prosecutor's office in the German city of Würzburg initiated a preliminary investigation to determine whether the company violated sanctions against russia.

According to the KSE Institute, after the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, Knauf announced that it would remain in the russian market until the political and commercial situation permits. In 2022 alone, Knauf paid approximately $117 million to the budget of the terrorist state. Additionally, the German company actively supported mobilization in russia by sending its employees to war against Ukraine. This prompted the National Anti-Corruption Prevention Agency (NACP) to include Knauf on the list of international sponsors of the war.
