According to the Law "On the provision of construction products on the market", manufacturers of windows and doors must declare the essential characteristics of the product (air permeability, water tightness, resistance to wind load, thermal transmittance coefficient, etc.). To do this, they are obliged to contact a designated technical assessment body (TAB), which conducts independent testing. Without protocols or certificates issued by a TAB, a manufacturer is not entitled to officially place construction products on the market.
Earlier, BM-TEST from Rivne and Kryvbassstandartmetrologiya from Kryvyi Rih participated in the project "Realisation of the export potential of the production and sales chain of the woodworking industry in Ukraine", implemented by UNIDO with financial support from the Swiss Confederation and the Bern University of Applied Sciences (Switzerland).
The companies received modern European equipment and software to carry out tests for:
- air permeability (EN 1026),
- water tightness (EN 1027),
- wind resistance (EN 12211),
- and calculation of the U-value in accordance with EN 10077-1, EN 10077-2.
Now the modern BM-TEST testing centre has started preparing documents to obtain TAB status. As Ms Fursachyk noted, the laboratory already holds accreditation from the National Accreditation Agency of Ukraine (NAAU). This is the first step towards obtaining the status.
In accordance with legislation, the appointment is carried out by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine. At the same time, the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine (formerly MinRegion) is responsible for the professional evaluation of the applicant. Experts from the ministry check whether the laboratory meets the established requirements.
Based on the results, the Ministry of Economy issues a certificate of appointment of the conformity assessment body and enters the laboratory into the relevant register of designated TABs.
