The Association “Ukrainian Manufacturers of Transparent Structures” (UMTS) reported at the General Meeting that a pilot training and practical centre (TPC) will open in Kyiv in February 2026. This was announced by UMTS Executive Director Mykhailo Orlenko.
The centre will operate on the basis of the Kyiv College of Civil Engineering. Students will be trained in two areas: installer of window and door structures, and installation specialist for ventilated curtain-wall façades and transparent structures. Training will be organised on a dual-education basis. This means that learners will complete on-the-job practical training at an enterprise. Student intake is planned for August–September 2026.
UMTS has taken on not only the provision of the material and technical base, but is also working on the full launch of the centre. Training sessions, workshops and technical sessions have been held for teachers and instructors, involving manufacturers of profiles, hardware, glass and installation materials. UMTS is currently preparing a train-the-trainers programme for teachers and instructors at the WindowED TPC. UMTS also plans to introduce certification for teachers.
The Kyiv Vocational College of Civil Engineering has already submitted an application to the Kyiv City Department of Education for state-funded places. For 2026, 28 places have been approved. A pool of Kyiv companies—members of the Association—has been formed for practical training and employment. It includes BK MaksiBud Inzhynirynh, VIKNA-STAR, YEVROVIKNOBUD, COMPASS GROUP.
UMTS plans to build a “learner pathway”: from the first contact and admission through to a guarantee of practical training and employment. The Association is also considering individual scholarships for the best students from partner companies.
Separately, UMTS plans to open a qualification centre on the basis of the centre. It will operate to award or confirm installers’ professional qualifications.

Plans also include integrating the TPC into the retraining system via employment services. This concerns short courses for veterans, IDPs and unemployed people with a route into the labour market.
The TPC will become part of the national WindowED project. Its aim is to create a national vocational education system in the field of window production and installation. Ukrainian Manufacturers of Transparent Structures is planning a network of WindowED TPCs in key regions: Kyiv, Dnipro, Chernivtsi and Kharkiv.
