Brief overview of EN 1279-6. Production control and periodic testing
The EN 1279-6 standard is aimed at ensuring the high quality and reliability of insulating glass units used in construction. This is achieved through compliance with regulatory requirements for thermal insulation, sound insulation and other key characteristics that ensure their effective performance. The standard establishes procedures and requirements for verifying and controlling various aspects of Insulating Glass Unit production, such as:
Requirements for production quality control: the requirements for quality control procedures that the manufacturer must apply during the production of insulating glass units are defined. This includes checking glass properties, sealing, the cavity space between panes and other aspects.
Periodic testing: manufactured insulating glass units undergo testing to verify compliance with the requirements. These tests may include measuring thermal transmittance, sound insulation, resistance to internal and external pressure, and more.
Conformity assessment: the standard specifies procedures that allow manufacturers to assess whether their products comply with the requirements of the standard and to mark them accordingly.
More details about production control at Glas Trösch facilities
The main aspects of the quality management system include incoming, in-process and final inspection.
- Incoming inspection: all materials used in production undergo testing in the central laboratory in Switzerland. Only materials that successfully pass the verification are used at the facilities. Each facility also has its own laboratory for incoming inspection.
- Process control: visual inspection of components and materials is carried out at each workstation. Clearly defined acceptance criteria exist for every production operation.
| Primary and secondary sealant: | The quantity and quality of the applied sealant are checked in accordance with regulatory documents. Objective control is carried out to confirm the correctness of the process. |
| Molecular sieve and water hardness: | The ability of the molecular sieve to absorb moisture and the quality of water used for glass washing are checked daily. |
| Inert gas filling level: | If applied, the gas filling must be at least 90%, and the check is carried out for each production line. |
| Marking: | Quality products must have their own marking to confirm quality and prevent counterfeiting. Therefore, all insulating glass units from Glas Trösch in Ukraine have the corresponding marking on the visible side: GLAS TRÖSCH SWISS TECHNOLOGY. |
- Final inspection: the parameters of finished insulating glass units are checked in accordance with Ukrainian standards, and documentation is maintained on a daily basis.
