Brands in the construction market continue to look for beneficial partnerships. Hydro has partnered with Saint-Gobain Glass to reduce the carbon footprint of facades. The press centre of Hydro Building Systems has reported about it. Buildings account for 39% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
“We share with Hydro the same ambition to be leaders in light and sustainable construction. This partnership will enable us to increase the awareness of low-carbon solutions for façades,” says Marion Portenseigne, BU Glass Façade Specification Director at Saint-Gobain Glass.
The Polish brand WICONA, a part of Hydro, produces aluminium facades with Hydro CIRCAL 75R. It contains at least 75% recycled aluminium scrap.
The VELUX Group has also announced the use of recycled Hydro aluminium for the production of blinds.
Saint-Gobain produces ORAÉ low-carbon glass. It uses around 70% recycled glass and green energy.
According to a lifecycle assessment study of façades, the carbon content of a building façade could be halved by combining façade systems with Hydro CIRCAL 75R with COOL-LITE XTREME ORAÉ solar control glass.
