The restaurant on Sylt, located on the North Sea coast, has undergone its first renovation in nearly forty years. The primary goal of the renovation was to update the façade and install modern window and sliding systems capable of withstanding extreme weather. The chosen systems were the Schüco ASE 80.HI lift-and-slide system and the AWS 75 SI+ window system.
Due to constant winds, salty air, and sandstorms, the traditional wooden windows no longer provided adequate protection. Therefore, the owners opted for Schüco aluminum profiles. These profiles withstand winds up to 10 on the Beaufort scale, meet wind load resistance classes B5/C5, have high air tightness (class 3), and water tightness (E900/E1050).
To preserve the building's original appearance, the color of the new windows closely resembles wood tones. The special Duraflon coating provides additional corrosion protection, which is particularly important in a maritime climate.
For easy maintenance, the Schüco IoF ID digital twin was used. A QR code allows access to system information, warranties, and maintenance history at any time.
In general, the construction industry must prepare for climate change.
