BAU 2025
VEKA AG and Gröninger Antriebstechnik GmbH & Co. KG have designed a window drive that integrates with smart home systems and allows manual window operation.

The German company, originally manufacturing components for mechanical engineering, began producing window drives in 2009. Gröninger Antriebstechnik GmbH aimed to address two challenges: combining electric and manual control and making the drive inconspicuous on the frame. According to the company, collaboration with VEKA was a key milestone. Within this partnership, the drive components, window profile, and hardware were specifically coordinated. The result was the concealed DK-100 drive for tilt-and-turn windows with manual operation. When a window is opened manually and detected by the smart home system, other windows open automatically.

The DK-100 received the German Design Award Winner 2025 in the "Excellent Product Design" category and was featured in the "climate.proof.build" exhibition of climate-resilient building products at BAU 2025. The Siegenia window drive, which eliminates the need for a window handle, was also showcased at the exhibition.

Installing the DK-100 window drive requires only a cut in the profile, which can be made using production equipment or a manual router.
