SCHÜCO International KG has unveiled a wireless sensor that turns standard PVC windows and doors into elements of a smart home system. The device is fully concealed within the profile when the window or door is closed. For communication with other devices, it uses the Matter standard — as, for example, MACO does with its wireless sensors for windows and doors.
The sensor has been entirely developed and manufactured in Germany. It can be installed at the factory during window production or retrofitted later. The device is compatible with all Schüco windows fitted with VarioTec Advanced hardware, and, thanks to an adapter included in the kit, also with standard windows equipped with eurogroove hardware. Via a magnetic contact in the corner drive or striker plate, the sensor transmits information to the smart home system on whether the window or door is open or closed.
The Matter standard enables devices from different manufacturers to operate within a single network. In addition, the sensor supports the Thread networking protocol, which accelerates data exchange and improves connection stability. Power is supplied by two standard AAA batteries — no mains connection is required.
The sensor allows the status of windows and doors to be checked at any time via a smartphone, provided there is internet access. The system sends push notifications when opening or closing occurs — for example, parents can receive alerts when children return home. Unexpected opening of a window or door is detected instantly, enabling an immediate response to a potential intrusion attempt.
In addition to remote monitoring, the sensor features an integrated accelerometer. If it detects mechanical tampering, a loud local alarm is triggered to deter intruders.
The sensor is suitable for Schüco LivIng, Schüco FocusIng, Schüco Symbiotic and Schüco CT 70 profile systems, as well as for windows, doors and sliding systems.
