According to the Ukrainian Manufacturers of Transparent Structures Association (UMTS), on the second day after its opening, the WindowED Academy training and practical centre in Kyiv welcomed its first guests. They were students from three Kyiv universities — Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, and Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute.
The students attended as part of the programme “Energy efficiency: from idea to action”. This programme is implemented at the initiative of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine together with the Danish Energy Agency. It is carried out within the framework of international technical assistance — the Ukrainian-Danish Energy Partnership Programme (UDEPP). The programme combines education, practical training and international exchange of experience with Denmark.
In the first half of the day, a practical training session was held for the students. The topic covered the principles of energy-efficient installation of transparent structures (windows, doors, façade glazing). The training was delivered by Yurii Yuskiv, Director of Meesenburg Ukraine, a subsidiary of the international Meesenburg Group, and energy auditor Pit Shamilov.
Participants learned why high-quality installation directly affects a building’s energy efficiency. The experts explained how to properly organise the installation joint — the interface between the window and the wall. It was emphasised separately that even the best profile or insulating glass unit (IGU) will not deliver the expected performance without professional installation.
The WindowED Academy training and practical centre was created as a space for hands-on training and dialogue between education and business. Already the day after its opening, the centre began fulfilling this role.
Following this event, the centre has already hosted a training session titled “Mentorship at the enterprise” for company specialists where students will undertake practical training.
