The North American division of Belgium-based Deceuninck presented its new 205 Patio Door sliding system at GlassBuild America 2026, held on 23–25 September in Las Vegas, USA. According to Deceuninck North America, the system was developed in response to US window and door manufacturers’ requirements for simplified assembly, reduced inventory and the production of large-format constructions.
The 205 Patio Door is a tower-style sliding door system. Unlike the pocket-style design commonly used in the US, where the sash slides into a dedicated cavity within the frame or wall, in the closed position the sash of a tower-style system partially wraps around and overlaps the frame. According to the company, this configuration increases the structural rigidity of the construction.
The company reports a U-factor of 0.22 in US units without the use of a triple-pane IGU. In SI units, this is approximately 1.25 W/(m²·K). This is the thermal transmittance value used in the US to assess the thermal performance of windows and doors.
For manufacturers, Deceuninck has reduced the number of system components by almost 50%. The same core components can be used to produce either a welded frame or a mechanically assembled KD, or knock-down, frame. The latter uses mechanical connections between the elements instead of welding.
“The new patio door system really came about because we listened to our customers. Manufacturers told us they were looking for a tower-style patio door that would deliver high performance without adding complexity to production. We developed the 205 around those needs and are pleased to introduce the system at the industry’s largest trade show,” said Greg Koch, interim president and vice president of sales and marketing at Deceuninck North America.
The 205 Patio Door does not replicate Deceuninck’s European HST lift-and-slide systems. Deceuninck uses different approaches for the two markets. The European HST 76 is designed around lift-and-slide hardware, large glazed constructions and European testing standards. With the 205 Patio Door, the company has focused on a sliding door configuration typical of the North American market, wind-load performance and a reduced number of manufacturing components.
