In Ukraine glass units are manufactured to ДСТУ Б В.2.7-107:2008 ("Sealed insulating glass units for construction"), and the heat-transfer resistance of the finished window is classified to ДСТУ Б В.2.6-23:2009 (from class Д2 — lowest, to А1 — highest).
Glass type
- Energy-saving (i-glass, Low-E) — with a low-emissivity coating that reflects heat back into the room; reduces heat loss in winter. A single-chamber unit with i-glass comes close, in warmth, to a standard double-chamber unit.
- Multifunctional — keeps heat in during winter and reflects part of the summer sun so the room heats up less.
- Tempered — 4–5 times stronger than ordinary glass; when it breaks it crumbles into small, safe fragments.
- Triplex (laminated) — two panes bonded with a film; on impact it holds together on the film and does not shower sharp shards. For ground floors, balconies and children's rooms.
Cavity fill
- Argon — an inert gas instead of air between the panes; it reduces heat loss better than air, with no change to the glass unit's appearance.
