Double-glazed windows

The main part in the finished window structure is a double-glazed unit, so special attention needs to be paid during its selection. Of course, there exists frameless glazing with one glass, but it is used only for balconies and concedes to double-glazed windows in the connection to its thermal insulation characteristics.
Double-glazed windows can be single-chamber, two-chamber, etc., depending on the number of air chambers located between the windows. It should be noted that simple single-chamber double-glazed windows do not correspond to the state building standards for thermal insulation characteristics. Therefore, if a customer insists on the acquisition of such a double-glazed unit, they will have to sign a receipt confirming that they are familiar with the discrepancy between the product and the standards. The situation can be improved by energy-saving double-glazed windows.
The most of heat loss in the building is accounted for windows. For insulation of windows, various types of double-glazed windows are used, from single-chamber double-glazed windows with low-emission glass, to two-chamber windows with two energy-saving glasses and chambers filled with inert gas.
To reduce the external noise from a busy street or a yard, they use double-glazed windows with different distances between the panes and the thickness of the glass. For example: 4E-16-4-12-6, where 4 - indicates the thickness of the glass, E — the low-emission coating of the glass, 16 — the distance between the glasses, etc.
To protect home from onlookers, especially if the window is located at the level of the ground floor, one might want to cover the double-glazed window with opal film. In this case, blinds are not necessary. But the option is not perfect, as it blurs visibility, and only a diffused light can pass through such glass unit.
