Autumn and winter bring not only cold but also the need for regular air renewal at home. During this time, it is important to ventilate a room in a way that retains warmth, avoids draughts, and maintains a healthy indoor microclimate.
Traditional ventilation through an open or tilted sash creates a strong flow of cold air that quickly cools the room and is not an energy-efficient method. In addition, this kind of ventilation inevitably allows outdoor noise from generators, vehicles, and other loud devices to enter the room, making it difficult to concentrate or fall asleep.

How to maintain a healthy indoor climate
So how can you maintain a healthy indoor climate while staying quiet and secure? The Winkhaus activPilot Comfort window system does this perfectly.
This system offers users a fourth window position — comfortable natural ventilation without heat loss. In this mode, the sash does not tilt on one side but moves parallel to the frame by 6 mm, creating a narrow gap sufficient for fresh air to enter.
This narrow opening supplies fresh air evenly and gently, without creating a sharp cold draft, while at the same time allowing stale air to exit the room.
Protection against accidental window opening
The activPilot Comfort system has a changed opening sequence: first the tilt, then the parallel ventilation mode, and finally the full sash opening. This feature reduces the risk of accidental opening — an important aspect for families with children, kindergartens, schools, and elderly people.
Comfort ventilation provides several practical advantages to the user:
- ● preservation of warmth thanks to the even supply of fresh air;
- ● maintaining normal indoor humidity, helping to prevent condensation and mould formation;
- ● high burglary resistance — up to RC2 class.
Reduction of external noise
Another strong point of activPilot Comfort is reduced noise during ventilation. Compared to the tilt mode, outdoor sound levels decrease by around 9 dB. For a person, this means the noise is perceived as twice as quiet. As a result, the room receives fresh air without unnecessary discomfort.
Winkhaus encourages everyone to care for a healthy indoor climate and reminds: proper ventilation during the cold season can be comfortable, safe, and energy-efficient at the same time.
Winkhaus activPilot Comfort PADM — an intelligent window with automatic control
The Winkhaus activPilot Comfort PADM system is equipped with an electric drive, a touch panel, and a remote control, making the opening and ventilation process fully automated.
The electric drive switches the sash to the parallel ventilation mode, opens, and closes the window with a single press of a button on the panel or remote control. The user can set individual ventilation times and modes, adapting the window’s operation to their daily rhythm.
Thanks to an updated control board with a radio module, the system easily integrates into smart home platforms and is compatible with air quality or climate control sensors.
When the CO₂ level in the room rises, the window automatically switches to the comfort ventilation mode — especially important for rooms with gas boilers or insufficient ventilation.
Security in parallel ventilation mode
The activPilot Comfort window system meets enhanced burglary protection requirements up to RC2 resistance class, even in parallel ventilation mode!
