The Ukrainian company Aestech has completed its first project in the United States, which was implemented with partners from Ukraine - PARITET, and partners from the United States - Inovia US LLC. It's about the stained glass security system for a Gothic church in one of the New York City districts, built in 1989.
In the process of modernizing the building, which is now a center for cultural and social initiatives, the architects sought to protect the original ancient stained glass windows.
Initially, it was planned to cover the windows with tempered glass or acrylic sheet, but in the end, they were abandoned due to the negative impact on the overall aesthetics of the building. It was not possible to install an arched aluminum structure with an external bar because the windows had too small slopes. Using an aluminum profile would have resulted in windows that would have protruded significantly outward.
The solution was the Aestech frameless glazing technology. Unlike standard solutions, high-strength double-glazed windows - the basis of Aestech Glazing technology - do not require a frame and metal holding elements. Insulating glass units can be fixed at any angle directly to the building's supporting structures.
Thanks to the frameless glazing technology, the stained-glass windows received an aesthetic shell that will protect them from vandalism, wind loads and precipitation, and the overall energy efficiency of the building has significantly improved.
