The pextra Q wrenches feature a patented side cutout with complex geometry. This improves protection against illegal key copying. The double-side slot can only be achieved with the help of special machines and a complex milling process, according to the company. An additional active element in the profile cylinders checks for this side cut and locks the cylinder in case of an attempt to use an illegal duplicate key.
According to the company, the standard level of security also includes hardened steel elements in the cylinder and in the housing that make it difficult to drill or pull out the profile cylinders.
Each key is encrypted using a new serial number sequence system, meaning that each key is unique.
