The new order of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine simplifies the protection of product design from copying. These include industrial or handcrafted products, packaging, exterior design, graphic symbols, and typographic fonts. The Ministry of Economy has made changes to the rules for filing an application for an industrial design. An industrial design is a way to protect the external appearance of a product, be it doors, grilles, illustrations, application interfaces, etc.
"The Ministry is actively working to create favorable conditions for businesses so that they can use tools to protect their creative solutions," said Vitalii Kindrativ, Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine. He added that the appearance of products is crucial for their successful positioning in the market, so registering rights to industrial designs becomes an important step in protecting intellectual property from copies.
The new rules will simplify the procedure for registering industrial designs, including electronic document circulation and quick access to the examination process. This will allow manufacturers to promptly register their designs, ensuring their protection from illegal copying and fostering further development of their business.
